Enterprise ERP Selection & Integration Strategy
Enterprise ERP Selection & Integration Strategy for a Multi-Site Engineering Organization
Project Overview
As part of a large-scale digital transformation program at La Terre Saint-Denis, I contributed as an external expert to the strategic selection of a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution.
The objective was to evaluate leading market solutions and identify not only the most suitable ERP platform, but also the strongest integration ecosystem capable of supporting a complex multi-site engineering organization based in the Paris region.
Business Need & Context
The organization required a robust ERP capable of supporting multi-site operations, complex engineering workflows, and long-term scalability. Beyond software capabilities, local integration expertise and implementation capacity were critical decision factors.
The challenge was twofold:
- Select a technologically and functionally suitable ERP platform
- Identify integration partners capable of delivering both project ownership (MOA) and technical execution (MOE)
My Role & Responsibilities
I participated in the structured evaluation process, contributing to:
- Market comparison of leading ERP solutions (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics)
- Organization of integrator presentations and capability assessments
- Creation of a comparative evaluation matrix across vendors
- Assessment of local Paris-based integration capacity and expertise
- Internal alignment workshops to consolidate functional and technical requirements
A key dimension of the analysis focused on the strength of the integrator ecosystem surrounding each ERP solution.
Evaluation & Decision Framework
Each candidate ERP was evaluated across multiple criteria:
- Functional coverage and scalability
- Industry alignment
- Local integrator availability
- Implementation track record
- Resource capacity in France and internationally
Following detailed presentations, workshops, and comparative scoring, SAP was selected due to its stronger integration ecosystem and higher availability of experienced service providers in the Paris region.
Results & Strategic Impact
The ERP selection phase laid the foundation for a large-scale transformation program involving:
- 2,000+ person-days of development in France
- 7,000+ person-days delivered by offshore teams in India
- Multi-site deployment planning
- Alignment of cross-business system modules with product requirements
The decision ensured long-term scalability, ecosystem support, and reduced integration risk for the organization.
Skills Demonstrated
- Product & Strategy: Enterprise software evaluation, structured decision frameworks
- Business: Vendor comparison, ecosystem analysis, stakeholder alignment
- Technical: ERP architecture understanding, integration feasibility assessment
- Leadership: Cross-functional coordination, executive-level reporting
Why This Matters for Senior Product / Head of Product Roles
This experience demonstrates my ability to operate at strategic decision-making level within complex enterprise environments. I combine product vision, technical understanding, and ecosystem analysis to drive long-term scalable technology choices.
